LOS ANGELES, Calif. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Getting to hear great songs is the whole point of a Nashville-style songwriter’s “round” and that opportunity comes to Hollywood at Genghis Cohen on Monday, September 24. “This is a great location for a songwriter’s round,” notes Jane Bach, organizer of the event scheduled for 8:00-9:30pm. This special one-time performance will feature Bach, Shady Hill Records artist Sandra Piller, and Friends (including Kyle Megginson).
Bach is perhaps best-known for writing one of Reba McEntire’s biggest hit songs (“The Last One to Know”) as well as penning hits for Jo Dee Messina, Ray Price and others. A frequent performer at writer’s rounds in cities all around the country, Bach will be the host as well as one of the singers.
“The whole show will be a celebration of songs,” states Piller, who will be performing numbers from her latest full album, “Days Like These,” and her new 6-song EP, “Love Goes On,” which is dedicated to her late husband, Michael. “I hope to see fans of my music as well as fans of Michael and all his great work,” Piller adds. “When Jane and I appeared at recent Star Trek conventions, it was great to hear from so many people who remember Michael.”
The intimate performance space at Genghis Cohen is ideal for appreciating great material. “One of the best things about a writer’s round program is that it is such a great way to get up close and personal with the writers and their material,” Bach notes, “and we love Genghis Cohen for this.”
Bach is a strong supporter of the Nashville songwriter-in-the-round format. “There’s nothing quite like it,” she states. “And you never know when you’ll be hearing a song that will become the next big hit,” Bach adds. The Genghis Cohen event will follow the classic format of the round, where each songwriter plays one of their songs, followed by the next writer, and the next, and so on.
Genghis Cohen is located at 740 N. Fairfax Ave., Hollywood, CA 90046. Phone: (323) 653-0640. The club has full bar and restaurant, both with service in the performance room. Genghis Cohen is just North of Melrose Blvd. and street parking is available. There is a $10 dollar cover. Showtime is 8:00 to 9:30 p.m.
