QUINCY /Massachusetts Newswire/ — Governor Deval Patrick today announced the nomination of a career public defender to the Quincy District Court and a Boston-area practitioner and former Norfolk Assistant District Attorney to the Roxbury Division of the Boston Municipal Court. “I am confident that these well-respected attorneys will serve the District and Municipal Courts and their communities well,” Governor Patrick said. “They will bring to the bench a combination of intellect, compassion and deep commitment to justice.”
Beverly J. Cannone has spent the entirety of her 24-year legal career with the Committee for Public Counsel Services, where she represents indigent criminal defendants in the District and Superior Courts. She is a long-time member of the Committee’s murder team and serves as the Attorney-in-Charge of the Dedham office. A fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Cannone received CPCS’s Edward J. Duggan Award in 2008 and the MBA’s Access to Justice Defender of the Year Award in 2002. Born and raised in Quincy with her five siblings, Cannone is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and New England School of Law. She is slated to fill the vacancy on the Quincy District Court created by the retirement of the Honorable Warren A. Powers.
Shannon Frison, a graduate of Harvard University and Georgetown University Law Center, currently is a sole practitioner focusing on criminal defense. She began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Norfolk County before serving the U.S. Marines as Chief Trial Counsel at Marine Corps Air Station New River in North Carolina Air Station. She then joined Dwyer & Collora where for seven years she specialized in criminal defense, employment litigation and military justice. While at Dwyer, Frison also served for one year as General Counsel and Commissioner of the Women’s Professional Football League in Boston. Frison is slated to fill the vacancy on the Boston Municipal Court, Roxbury Division, created by the retirement of the Honorable Milton L. Wright, Jr.
