ATLANTA, Ga. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — For the second year, Pathbuilders will manage the Mentor of Excellence program for GSU’s Executive Master’s of Science, Managing Information Technology program. Through the mentoring overlay component of the MS MIT degree program, students benefit from real-life experiences and professional development through the insights of a mentor.
“The GSU Mentor of Excellence Program provided me with the final piece to the executive puzzle that I sought to gain through my Master’s degree,” said David Tatum, a 2009 graduate of the MS MIT program and a former mentee. “Although the course work and texts supplied solid background knowledge, my mentor bestowed professional experience, guidance, and leadership as the most valuable tools I carry through my career path.”
The Executive MS MIT program consists of five academic modules, each consisting of two courses, delivered over the course of one year. Structured mentoring modules delivered to the mentoring groups are designed to complement the course curriculum and initiate productive conversations between the mentor and student mentees. Executive MS MIT students are currently working in the IT field and have a minimum of four years of industry experience. An experienced IT business leader from the local business community serves as a mentor to the program participants.
“Many of the students in this program aspire to c-level executive positions in their companies or industries. The Mentor of Excellence curriculum overlay provides the necessary professional development and real world exposure to prepare these students for the rigors of organizational leadership,” said Helene Lollis, president of Pathbuilders.
